200 Hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Training Program

The 200 Hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Training Program will provide a solid foundation from which students can grow into their highest potential as teachers. Our instructors guide students in understanding the technology and language of yoga on the mat, while learning how to incorporate the philosophy of yoga into the rest of their life.

In order to help comply with today’s hectic schedules, our program is done over a 10 month period allowing students to immerse themselves in a yogic environment one weekend a month (2 weekends during the month of October). Our studio creates a sacred space for learning so that your teaching will come from a deep personal experience.

Primary Teachers:

Peg Koller:

Peg first found Ashtanga Yoga after she was injured in a fall from a race horse. She was drawn to the practice and started her studies in earnest soon after, and has been able to study with remarkable teachers such as Manju Jois, David Swenson, Doug Swenson, Caroline Klebl and Danicia Ambron. She studies primarily today with Christopher Hildebrandt, who she is lucky to call both a teacher and a friend. Peg also traveled to India in 2008 to study with Sri K Pattabhi Jois, and his grandson, R. Sharath. She is also a registered ERYT with Yoga Alliance, having completed the qualifications for that at Yoga Sutra in NYC. Peg opened Yoga Yama in January of 2003, and since has had the joy of watching it grow into a place of vital energy, education and peace.

Christopher Hildebrandt:

Christopher Hildebrandt received his blessing to teach from Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, the guru of Ashtanga Yoga. From 1997 to 2009 he made yearly trips to the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore, India. He has also studied extensively with Guruji's son, Manju Jois, and his grandson, R. Sharath.

Christopher has taught at the Jivamukti Yoga Center, the New York Ashtanga Yoga Shala, Karma Yoga, Yoga Sutra, New York Yoga, and the Peridance Capezio Center. He teaches in the teacher training programs at New York Yoga and Yoga Yama, and gives workshops there and at Tapovana. Karen Zorzenon:

In 1999 Karen began practicing with Lucia Tucci Di Palo and gained a foundation in the Iyengar tradition of yoga at the Yoga Room of East Patchogue.  In 2003 Karen began a more serious physical and spiritual journey in traditional Hatha yoga under the guidance of Angela Caruso of Inner Light Yoga in Sayville, New York.  After having the opportunity to “student teach” at Inner Light, Karen enrolled in the 200 hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Training at Yoga-Yama of Patchogue which included a heavy emphasis in both Vinyasa and Ashtanga styles of yoga.  Her Ashtanga practice follows the traditional teaching of Sir Krishna Paattabhi Jois (“Do your practice and all is coming.”).  Karen received her 200 hour certification in June 2009 and has been teaching since.  Karen is looking forward to sharing her training and taking her students to a higher and deeper level of practice.
